Our History
Following in his father's footsteps, Richard Jenkins began selling meat from the family's small grocery stall in Park Lane Market in 1891. It was here his talents as a sausage–maker were born, and before long he moved the business to its current location on High Street West, specialising in butchery.
Over the years Jenkins' Butchers became renowned for its contributions to the local community, and during the Blitz it would contribute to local feeding centres, or 'British Restaurants' as they were known. Richard's kind–hearted nature has remained a core part of our philosophy over the decades, and we hope our local charity efforts capture his giving spirit.
Our Team
The Jenkins family has run our butchershop for generations, and we have no intention of stopping anytime soon. While our methods of production may have changed over time, our sense of tradition has not. We still use some of Richard's original sausage recipes, and others have been adapted with modern twists.
